About Me

  • A Midwesterner to the core, I have lived my whole life here in Iowa, suffering blazing hot summers and bitter cold winters alike. My interest in graphics and media started with a great love for movies, which evolved into special effects, then theatre, and finally studio arts and crafts, graphic design, and photography. In 2008, I graduated from Wartburg College (Waverly, Iowa) with a bachelor degree in Studio Art and a bachelor degree in Graphic Design. I currently spend my time designing via my freelance design firm, Broadway Avenue Design.

    My photography, starting as a hobby, has helped me grow as a studio and graphic artist, helping me with composition, framing, subject, etc. Despite the influence of one media on another in my work, my art does tend to vary from style to style. I generally shoot black and white photographs, bringing out contrasts and emphasizing textures, faults, and often overlooked details in everyday objects. My design work tends to be simple and bold, clean and to the point. My traditional work varies from classical still-life sketches to abstract and surreal works, using a wide range of media. But no matter what type of artwork I am producing, I always try and put myself into it – my personality, my experiences, my education, my style.

    • Created a new logo and developed corporate identity.
    • Designed and implemented corporate website.
    • Worked with printers and other vendors in the production of all corporate material.

    • Created client and customer marketing material.
    • Designed in-house materials and publications.
    • Redesigned several e-commerce and client websites with an updated appearance, navigation, and overall structure.
    • Gathered content, designed layouts, and digitally assembled pages for an online customer publication.

    DESIGN EDITOR

    • Collaborated with Editor-in-Chief about the overall look and feel of the book.
    • Designed layout templates and variations of page formats throughout the book.
    • Oversaw the production of each page by staff members.
    • Reviewed printer proofs for design discrepancies.
